Residence visa for family members of Spanish nationals
Visa for family members of Spanish nationals who wish to travel to Spain for residency purposes, i.e., to stay for a period of more than 90 days.
Family members who may apply for this visa:
- A spouse over eighteen years of age, provided that no agreement or declaration of nullity of the marriage bond or divorce has been made and that the marriage was not entered into in fraud of law. In no case may more than one spouse access this authorization, regardless of whether the personal law of the foreigner permits this type of marriage. Regarding a Spanish resident who is married in a second or subsequent marriage, only the new spouse and their relatives listed in this article may access this authorization if they prove that the dissolution of their previous marriages took place following a procedure that establishes the situation of the previous spouse and their relatives with respect to the common residence, any pensions for the spouse, and any dependent minor or adult children.
- An unmarried foreign couple over eighteen years of age who maintains a relationship of affection analogous to a marital one with a person of Spanish nationality and is registered in a public registry established for these purposes in a Member State of the European Union or in a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in Switzerland, provided that the relationship has not been entered into in fraud of law and that said registration has not been cancelled, which must be sufficiently accredited.
- An unmarried foreign couple over the age of eighteen who maintains a duly proven stable relationship with a Spanish national. In any case, a duly proven stable relationship will be understood to be one that sufficiently demonstrates a cohabitation relationship similar to a marital relationship, inside or outside Spain, of at least twelve consecutive months. The prior cohabitation period will not be required if the couple has children together, provided the relationship is maintained.
- Your children, or those of your spouse, registered partner, or stable partner, provided that the latter also resides or will reside in Spain, who are under the age of 26, or over that age who are in your care, or who have a disability requiring support to exercise their legal capacity. In all of the above cases, provided that they live or intend to live with you and are not married or have formed their own family unit.
- The direct ascendants of the first degree in the direct line and those of their spouse, or registered partner or stable partner provided that there has been no agreement or declaration of nullity of the marriage bond, or divorce, or the registration of the couple has been cancelled in the following cases: 1st when they prove that they live at their expense and lack family support in origin, 2nd when there are humanitarian reasons.
- The father, mother, or guardian of a minor of Spanish nationality, provided the applicant is responsible for the minor and lives with them or is up to date with their obligations towards them. This relationship must have been established in accordance with Spanish law.
- A single relative, up to the second degree, who provides or will provide care for a person of Spanish nationality who has been recognized as having one of the degrees of dependency provided for in Article 26 of Law 39/2006, of December 14, on the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Care for Persons in Situations of Dependency.
- Sons and daughters whose father or mother is or has been Spanish by origin.
Other members of your family not included in the previous sections, and who can reliably prove, at the time of the application, that they are under your care.

Photo Specifications
Note: We regret we cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:
- Taken against white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
- Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.
