A foreigner who has held a long-term residence permit in Spain and has been absent from the territory of the European Union for 12 consecutive months, or has obtained long-term EU residence in another Member State of the European Union, or has fulfilled the commitment period of non-return by accepting voluntary return to their country of origin, may regain long-term residence.
A foreigner who has held long-term EU residence in Spain and has been absent from the territory of the European Union for 12 consecutive months, or has obtained long-term EU residence in another Member State of the European Union, or has been outside of Spain for more than 6 years, may regain long-term EU residence.
To obtain a visa to reinstate long-term residence or long-term EU residence, you must first submit an application to reinstate your authorization. Therefore, the procedure consists of two phases.
